Who is the Jipe app and this Privacy Policy for?

Our mobile app and online website are intended for individual young adults and relevant businesses seeking employees, who reside in and use these only in the United States of America.

This Privacy Policy applies to our online website and our mobile and desktop applications (collectively, the “Services”), and other interactions (e.g., customer service inquiries and communications, user conferences, email and other communications, etc.) you may have with us.

Jipe does not intend to collect information from children or anyone under the age of 14 (or the legal age for employment in any State where the Services are accessed or used). If you do not meet these age limits, you should not provide information on the app or our website, and if you are under the legal age of majority (age 18 in most states) you should ask your authorized parent or legal guardian to do so for you if they desire to do so, or to supervise and be responsible for your use of the Services.

Note to EU/Swiss/UK users: Residents of the European Union, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom who use or access the Services, including the Website, should not expect, and are not intended, to have privacy or data protection available under their local laws.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third party applications or software that may integrate with or link to the Services through our platform (“Third Party Services”), or any other third party products, services or businesses, including advertising of and for third parties. In addition, a separate agreement governs delivery, access to and use of the Services (the “Terms of Use”), including any information or pictures you may upload to us through the Services.

If you don’t agree with this Privacy Policy, don’t access or use our App, Website, or the Services.

 

Information We Receive or Collect

We collect the content, communications, and other information and Materials you provide, or which we may receive from you, when you use the Services. As necessitated for the purposes of the Services, from individuals who are potential employees, we collect certain personal identifiable information when you sign up for the services, specifically, the following:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your email address
  • Your mobile telephone phone number
  • Your street address (to determine your “home base” location, so we can match jobs within your selected radius).
  • Your birthday (to communicate with you and to determine if you are old enough for a particular job since some jobs may have age requirements). We won’t do anything else with your birthday.
  • Your gender (for marketing purposes only). We made this field optional, so you may choose not to answer it.
  • Links to your social media profiles. We made this field optional, so you may choose not to answer it. We may use this for marketing purposes or your employers may want to use it to obtain more information about you.

Of the personal information listed above, the only thing we share with potential employers is your name, email address and telephone number. Your name will be visible to other users of the Services. Your email address and telephone number are shared with a potential employer only when you as a job seeker submit an application to that potential employer using our Services. By using the Services you agree to this sharing, and by submitting an application for a job, you agree to share your email address and telephone number with this business.

As necessitated for the purposes of the Services, from businesses who are potential employers, we collect the following information when you sign up for the services:

  • Account owner name, email address, and telephone number.
  • Additional business users’ names, email address, and telephone numbers.
  • Business name and location(s).
  • The business’ logo.
  • Business description.
  • URL for the business.
  • Social media links
  • Photographs and videos (These are discretionary and may be time or size limited.)
  • Bank or credit card payment information (none of which is viewed by us stored on our servers.)
  • Job listing information:
    • Job title.
    • Job reference number, if any.
    • Address where the employee would work.
    • Pay rate
    • Hours of availability needed.
    • Minimum age requirement for the job.
    • 5 short statements for a job description.
    • At your option, an external job application link that a job seeker must use to apply for the job.

We may also collect and receive from you information you have discretion about providing to us (either by your mobile digital device or computer settings) or choices you make when you register, specifically, the location of your mobile device or computer, work day and time preferences, and preferences for employer, business, industry, or type or conditions of work.

The Service’s systems automatically process content and communications you and others provide to analyze context and what’s in them for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. You should learn about how you can control and limit who can see the things you share through the App and Services.

We collect as general analytics data of user-interaction data, namely, the number of times you log in to our Services, where you log in from, search terms you submit, which buttons or features or the Services you use, users or employers you follow, which employers you view and/or bookmark, which advertisements you see and/or click on, and device setting data (for diagnostics). We may use cookies and similar technologies on our Website and App to help us collect general analytics data and usage information.

We also may receive from you and collect any information you choose to submit to us including biographical information, work history information (specifically places of employment, job title, and dates of employment), job or employment skills identified by you, photographs of you, and video of you.

Information we do NOT collect: WE DO NOT ASK FOR OR WANT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. And your potential employer should not ask for it either on a job application. However, when you’ve accepted a job, your employer must of course obtain your social security, including for tax purposes, as part of the onboarding as a new hire.

Surveys: Occasionally Jipe may conduct on-line or in-app user survey or poll to improve the our Services. We may sometimes share the aggregated demographic information from these surveys with our business affiliates or partners. We never share information about specific individuals, or your specific personal identifiable information, with any third party.

Customer Support (phone, online chat or email): If you contact Jipe for customer support, we will need to collect certain personal and digital device or computer hardware and software information to resolve your question or concern. Such information is then stored in a customer contact log, so that if you contact us again, we have a record of your past service history.

What are cookies and how does Jipe use them?

A cookie, and similar technologies, are a small data file that our App or Website may use that writes to your device memory details of your visits or use of the Services. That file may contain information we use to track your use of the Services, and to facilitate or ease your next use of the Services.

Jipe may not respond to “do not track” requests from your web browser or application. Your device or computer may also alter or delete cookies and similar technologies that have been used with the Services.

 

How We Use Information

Your personal information will be used to identify you so you can log into the Services, and to provide the Services you. We may also contact you via email or text with marketing, information, or other updates. You may opt out of many of these communications.

Photographs and video you elect to upload through the services may be provided to potential employers if you so elect.  We reserve the right to crop, modify and alter such photographs and video to best present the material and optimize its relevance for the Services.

The location, analytics and other information are used:

To personalize our Services for you, including:

    • Show you potential employers within your selected radius.
    • Customizing our marketing and updates for you.
    • Displaying more relevant job opportunities and ads in our App or on our Website (ads are created in and served from our own system—they will not be third parties or other advertising providers).
    • Utilize third-party mapping or navigation services (such as Apple Maps or Google Maps) to help generate user-friendly names for locations (such as turning latitude and longitude data into a specific city name, or address), and to help display or navigate to employer locations.
    • To communicate with you, respond to your requests, questions, or comments. We may send you service, technical and other administrative emails, messages, and other types of communications. We may also contact you to inform you of changes in our Services, our Services offerings or new features, and important Services-related notices, such as security and fraud notices. All these communications are considered part of the Services though you may opt out of many or most of them
    • In addition, we sometimes send you emails about new product features, promotional communications, or other news about Jipe, or about new job opportunities. To further of our legitimate interests in operating our Services. More specifically, we use location, analytics and other information:

    • To provide, update, maintain and protect our App, Websites and the Services. This includes use of data and information to support delivery of the Services under our Terms of Use, prevent or address service errors, security or technical issues, analyze and monitor usage, trends and other activities, or at your request.
    • To develop and provide search, learning and productivity tools, and additional features. We try to make our Services useful and helpful to you and users in your area and demographic. For example, we may improve search functionality by using data and information collected to help determine the preference and relevance of employment opportunities in your area or nationally, or to create new features or products.
    • As aggregated or de-identified data. We may disclose or use aggregated or de-identified data or other Information for any legitimate business purpose. For example, we may share aggregated or de-identified information with employer prospects, or partners for business or research purposes, such as telling a Jipe user the average amount of time spent in a job search; providing advertisers with general demographics of users in your area; display job preferences to potential employers.
    • To investigate and help prevent security issues and abuse.

Of course, we may also use any data or information we have from you as required by applicable law, legal processes, or government regulation.

 

How We Share and Disclose Information

Jipe will not sell, rent, trade, or lease your personal information for marketing purposes. We will only share information with third-party agents who provide services for our business operation. These agents must comply with our privacy policies and cannot use your personal data for any other purpose. Apart from this, we disclose personal information only in the good faith belief that we are required to do so by law, or that doing so is reasonably necessary to: comply with legal process; respond to any claims; or protect the rights, property or personal safety of Jipe, our customers, or the public.

Jipe believes that it uses reasonable precautions to protect your personal information. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host our Website, and data, information and content provided through our App and Website for the Services. This section has additional details about the personal information we collect about California users of the Services and rights afforded to them under the California Consumer Privacy Act (the “CCPA”).

We collect this information for the business and commercial purposes described in the How We Use Information section above. We share this information with the categories of third parties described in the How We Share and Disclose Information section above. Jipe does not sell (as sell defined in the CCPA) the personal information we collect (and we will not sell it without providing a right for you to opt out). Please note that we do use third-party cookies for our advertising purposes.

Subject to certain limitations, the CCPA provides California consumers the right to request more details about the categories or specific pieces of personal information we collect (including how we use and disclose this information), to delete their personal information, to opt out of any “sales” that may be occurring, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We never share your email with third parties to market to you.

Your e-mail address will only be used within Jipe. We do not sell or rent e-mail addresses to anyone outside of Jipe. How can I manage my personal information or change my opt-in/out status?

For newsletters, marketing, and special offers, you may change your email address, change your preferences, or opt-out from receiving such Jipe communications by emailing support@jipejobs.com and requesting removal. These options are also generally included in the email communications we send.

 

Data Retention:

You may change or apply different settings to messages, notifications, files or other types of information you receive from us or your personalized use of the Services. The change or deletion of your personal information, and other use of the Services by you, may result in the deletion and/or de-identification of certain associated other information. We may retain data and other information pertaining to you for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
